Week 7 and 8 of Gestation- Supporting Your Baby’s Development
ByBy the end of the 8th week, your baby will have completed the development of the upper lips.
And around this time (week 10 at the latest) the two sides of the roof of your baby’s mouth fuse together at midline (Upledger, A Brain is Born).
Sometimes this does not happen fully though.
You can gently remind your baby that this is one of the processes that is going on in her development and invite her to complete it fully.
Run your tongue along the roof of your own mouth and run your fingers along your lips to demonstrate what you mean.
Draw your baby’s perfect lips and hard palate (roof of the mouth) if that feels good.
Relax fully. And trust that all is very well indeed with your baby!
In joy,
Deirdre Morris
