Even those from whom you might expect more insight sometimes seem to be paralysed by this collective silence. I have found also that making comments like 'I love when people mention Doireann's name' has opened the door to those who really do want to connect and support you but just dont know how (yet!). I would like to write a book called "The Dumb Shit People Say To You When You Have Miscarried." I think it would sell like hot cakes. I had a miscarriage 18 months ago and have decided not to have children at all now. I had no idea that miscarriage was such a real, common event at which anyone can go through and there is no way in heaven or hell to stop it. You will never know if you will miscarry or not. Its an incredibly risky business being pregnant and I will never view it the same way again. So much so I will not have children because I have a 50% percent chance of it happening again, and then I have a 18% of the baby dying at birth ....why aren't we told these stats up front? If I had have known it was this dicey I would have done things differently. I cannot believe the anguish I felt when I lost the baby at 14 weeks and how heartless people were. I felt like I had experienced a car accident on the inside. I got rid of many "friends" due to this incident. I am still angry with them for ignoring me.
