And I noticed some resistance bubbling up at the idea of using a potty with tiny babies. What came to mind first was the image of over enthusiastic parents putting pressure on children to preform before they are ready.
Thankfully, I have come to realise now that embracing my resistance always opens doors into new delights. So I ordered the book ‘The Diaper Free Baby’ and during the pregnancy got stuck in.
I liked the ideas behind Elimination Communication. The intention is not to toilet train your baby. Rather is it about tuning into your baby’s communication and responding to that. I loved the gentleness of it and we both felt excited about trying this approach with the girls. However, following the cesarean, I didn’t have the energy for anything ‘extra’. Apart from the physical recovery I had to learn the very basics about being a mum to my lovely girls. From day one though the girls peed when we were changing nappies so we made the ‘pssshh’ sound bringing their attention to what was happening.
A few weeks ago I decided to order the potties. And on St. Valentine’s day we presented them for the first time. When they woke up (which invariably happens at the same time for both), we placed them on the potties. Most of us relieve ourselves soon after waking up. Babies are the same. Within a couple of minutes we could hear them urinating. I was in shock. I never thought it could be that easy.
At the moment we usually present the potty first thing in the morning and at nappy changes. We use the American Sign Language signf or potty when we do so. We also give them an opportunity to use the potty when we see them pushing. Indeed most poos now take place in the potty. Such dignitiy for these tiny bums. They love it too. If they indicate that they want to get off we oblidge immediately. It doesn’t matter to me when they are toilet trained. I just love the idea of helping my girls tune into their bodily functions and to feel comfortable letting go of what they don’t need with ease and freedom. These are messages that I really want them to have in their cells.
This experience has made me reflect on our expectations and I began to wonder are there other ways in which I have underestimated my girls and babies in general.
My intention now is to make decisions that honour their wisdom, intelligence, unique rhythm, path and love of discovering this world.
We can easily find ourselves just going through the motions or challenges of fertility, pregnancy, birth and parenting. Sometimes it seems like all we meet are bumps on the road.
But we are here for much more than that.
We were born to be joyful and exuberant as we journey through this life.
Often we are afraid to aim for what we truly want because we don’t feel worthy enough, competent enough or deserving enough.
But your passion for creating new life, enjoying a magical birth experience, thriving in motherhood, sacred family life, and enjoying loving, happy relationship is the pulse of the universe expressing itself through you.
What you love and God’s will for you are the same (Janet Bray Attwood and Christ Attwood).
Hand in hand with every desire we have comes the ability to realise it. We can only ever really want for what is possible.
A newborn does not desire to walk. A 3 month old has no interest in speaking. Their passions lie perfectly in the range of possibility in relation to their abilities, skills and vibration.
The same applies to you.
So whatever you are passionate about, know that having the passion is a sign that you are ready to create that reality and take steps to realise your dream NOW.
On our Blog Talk Radio show today, Maire Clements (author of the multi media ebook/ecourse ‘The New Motherly Art of Conscious Breastfeeding) and Nutritionist, Tracy Gary discussed the controversial topic of vitamin D, breast milk and whether babies should be taking supplements when being breastfed exclusively.
Maire explained the risk factors (not enough vitamin D in mom’s diet and not enough exposure to sunlight). Tracy shared with us foods that breastfeeding moms need to include in their diet so that baby gets enough vitamin D while on the breast. She also referred to an an excellent article entitled ‘Does My Baby Need Vitamin D Supplements’.
During the discussion, I was reflecting on the message behind the issue of possible vitamin D deficiency for baby when breastfeeding. What is life trying to tell breastfeeding moms in this story?
And here is my conclusion for now…
(1) Nourish yourself fully because as you nourish yourself you nourish your baby. (In my view this relates to more than just nutrition).
(2) Get out of the house and into nature.
(3) Kisses on naked skin are essential for you and your baby….. in this case kisses from the sun but feel free to generalise this one.
With an understanding of the law of attraction, when you choose to receive nourishment, tenderness, love and connect with nature you model this to your baby and both of you attract more of these life enhancing experiences into your day.
The trailer to this new documentary is very powerful indeed. ’The Other Side of the Glass’ looks at how current practices around birth dis-empower dads who have been overlooked in the birth process.
In this clip we are reminded that a new baby is fully conscious and involved in the process of birth and it matters how we touch and treat her.
It is a good reminder too that joy in birth and parenting requires us to honour the sacred masculine as well as the sacred feminine.
When considering or practicing breastfeeding, we are faced with many opinions (often conflicting) as to the ‘proper’ way to breastfeed your baby.
This can be confusing as some breastfeeding practices are drawn from cultures that don’t mirror the reality of living in a modern world and also because baby’s expected weight gain may be based on information gathered from formula fed babies or unrepresentative samples.
I predict that this book will become essential reading for all professionals in the area of lactation and infant development and parents who know that breastfeeding was meant to be a joyful, fulfilling experience for all.
Maire, who has been working with mothers and babies for three decades, has distilled her vast knowledge and experience into the Conscious Breastfeeding system designed especially for modern mums.
She starts from the premise and knowing that breastfeeding should be pain-free and teaches us how to make that a reality. She also reminds us that breastfeeding is a skill that mother and baby need to learn.
Maire is a wonderful example of what we can bring forth into the world when we follow our passion and deep knowing of how life can be. This book has already been a great resource for me as I prepare for my twins.
Maire’s Conscious Breastfeeding System will serve to empower so many mums and dads….creating a beautiful foundation for your baby and you to connect deeply in a way that allows all the family to thrive.
I mentioned before that myself and Life Mastery Guide Joanne Roibu are putting together audio programmes for success in Pregnancy, Birth and Breastfeeding with Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Click here to read that blogpost.
Some of you will be familiar with EFT which is a marvellous tool that helps to release blocks to physical, mental and emotional well-being by tapping on certain energy points in the body (linked to different meridians as identified in Chinese medicine).
Well, Joanne will also be running an 8 week EFT teleseminar series ‘Removing Blocks To Success With EFT’ in which she will skillfully guide participants through different success related themes to clear out blocks (conscious or otherwise) you may have to success.
Joanne will be hosting a blog talk radio show and providing a demonstration on air to give you some insight into how powerful this technique is particularly when guided by an excellent coach. I will be the guinea pig!
Regardless of what kind of success you seek..from fertility to financial freedom, this show is worth tuning into. Listen in live this Saturday 6th of September at 1pm Eastern Time or 7pm Central European Time or tune in later.
Partners and children (even babies) can benefit too.
Our most recent Blog Talk Radio Show from the Breastfeeding Salon started out with a question about how one might use a night nurse most effectively to support breastfeeding.
This discussion highlighted the fact that the Conscious Breastfeeding System, as developed by Maire Clements, represents a new paradigm in the area of breastfeeding.
We were joined by two moms, one of whom was on the show a few weeks ago and returned to report how well the Conscious Breastfeeding Approach was working for her.
The second new mom was seeking help because she was experiencing much pain and just told to keep going when she asked for guidance locally.
Her story was a reminder that breastfeeding is a skill that mother and baby (and those supporting women after birth) need to learn and why the Conscious Breastfeeding System, which is based on the premise that breastfeeding should be pain free, is so successful.
Join us on live or leave questions and we can address them for you. We would love to hear from you. And don’t forget to click here to receive a copy of my free special report on ‘Breastfeeding Success with the Law of Attraction’.
It is good to be reminded that you never alone in your parenting regardless of what stage you are at (even before conception).
That is why we focus on parenting with Spirit (God/ Universe or whatever fits for you) in my coaching.
I received this lovely reminder from Renee in my email and thought you might like to see it!
‘This is God.
Today I will be handling All of your problems for you.
I do Not need your help. So, have a nice day. I love you.
P.S. And, remember… If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do Not attempt to resolve it yourself! Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. I will get to it in MY TIME. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours.
Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now. Now, you have a nice day.
God
So what are you going to put in the box now? And what is the first thing that will go on your list?
