Fertility and Womanhood…All Roads Lead to Self-Acceptance

February 11th, 2008

Your experience of your fertility and all that fertility involves (including menstruation, ovulation, breastfeeding and sex) is intimately linked to your acceptance of self.

All elements of your fertility (and male fertility) are governed by a force that is much greater than the rational mind and ‘rules’ of what is right.

This powerful force comes from a much deeper place of being that is not limited by your current expression of ‘who you are’ or a limited view of the world.

Are menstrual/breastfeeding pains (fertility or pregnancy challenges) something that you have to ‘deal with’ while you get on with your ‘role’… or do you take them as opportunities to hear what is really going on for you?

Your fertility is a great friend indeed.

It will NOT tell you what you want to hear (e.g. you don’t need to change anything…).

It will NOT fit into the schedule of the way you ‘think’ things should be.

It will tell you the truth though… AND show you what you need to do to experience harmony in fertility, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding etc.

Invariably, acting on the messages of your fertility always brings you to your deeper truth.

It allows you to create the room for the rest, tenderness, space, support, order, rhythm, time, joy, pleasure and softness that you really want and need now to thrive in your life.

What is your fertility and womanhood telling you now?

Miscarriage: The Healing Power of Sharing Your Fertility Story

February 7th, 2008

Not long after my miscarriage (with Doireann), myself and my partner took a taxi in my home town.

Upon entering the taxi, the driver (a woman) asked how we were.. as is customary. I could not bring myself to slap up the expected response of ‘Good Thanks’ and instead blurted out that I had just miscarried my baby and was feeling very fragile.

This beautiful woman then shared with me her own story. She had been through IVF (almost twenty years earlier) which resulted in three miscarriages and no live birth.

I asked her if she had named her babies. She hadn’t.

I then asked her what names she would have picked.

Without a thought, she piped up ‘Jonathon’…because she was sure one was a boy and she loved that name. And her two girls were Hannah and Joy.

I felt so grateful to be sharing this time with this beautiful mother.

And I thank Doireann, Jonathon, Hannah and Joy for coming into our lives and allowing us to transcend etiquette so that strangers could heal together…in traffic… and feel deeply the love that connects us always.

Deirdre

Fertility and Pregnancy: Running Out of Hope or Confidence?

February 5th, 2008

Maybe you are beginning to run out of hope that you will enjoy a healthy pregnancy and give birth to your beautiful new baby.

Or perhaps you are already pregnant and not feeling very confident in yourself.

You are looking to the evidence around and concluding that, for all you know, you are not going to become pregnant and give birth…. or be the calm, confident, happy parent you would love to be.

However, it may serve you to remember that 114 million years ago on this glorious planet, the very first flower ever came into being (A New Earth, Eckhart Tolle).

The earth had been covered in vegetation for millions of years before this miraculous event.

A few weeks before it happened there was probably little or no evidence of what was going to take place.

And then suddenly it appeared.

What has this got to do with your fertility and mothering?

Don’t be distracted by the evidence of what has happened up until now.

Even if you have been a worrier, lacking in confidence all of your life…..you have the capacity to come into a peaceful, joyful place in your pregnancy and your life.

And although you might have experienced miscarriage or other challenges in your fertility, know that the flower of your fertility can still bloom.

You will attract the support you need if that is your intention.

Fertility and Pregnancy: Is Your Lifestyle Sustainable?

February 4th, 2008

Before we inhale we exhale. There is a natural exchange as we make room for the new breath.

But in terms of fertility and pregnancy, we often expect everything to function perfectly without any changes in our life.

We might have made physical changes…e.g. stopped using contraceptives, started IVF treatment or even begun a pregnancy but we often forget about creating emotional space.

A successful pregnancy is not just about the physical process of becoming pregnant and maintaining the pregnancy. It also requires emotional resources.

Often however, we are mothering others (adults) and don’t actually have the emotional fuel available for any more nurturing.

Where is your emotional energy going now and is that really compatible with sustaining a pregnancy and having the experience of pregnancy and birth that you really want?

What would you change if you could? How can you begin to do that now?

Enjoying Your Fertility & Femininity with a Guided Visualisation

January 31st, 2008

I had the great pleasure of joining Maire Clements, International Lactation Expert and Coach on her Blogtalk Radio show.

(Yes, they have breasts everywhere nowadays…. perhaps that has something to do with globalisation :)   And yes, Maire is so in tune with mothers and their babies that she can coach her international clients over the phone with great success).

Click below to listen to this 30 minute show which includes a beautiful visualisation guided my yours truly. (I am modeling self-value!).

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/TheBreastfeedingSalon/2008/01/21/The-Breastfeeding-Salon-Show

Although it took place on a show about breastfeeding (which I highly recommend even to those who are past that stage), this visualisation is relevant to all women regardless of where you are in your fertility.

Listening to this will support you in your fertility and help you to relax into your pregnancy at a much deeper level.

From the Law of Attraction perspective, tuning into this kind of empowering show facilitates the process of coming into allignment with success in fertility, pregnancy, birth and motherhood.

If you have experienced miscarriage, it is worth having a listen too. Be gentle with yourself though and follow your own intuition.

No matter what your blocks, you CAN untangle the energy and come into alignment with what you truly want.

My gift of a free consultation (worth 300 euro) until the end of January ends tomorrow. You can email me at Deirdre@magicalbeginningsforbaby.com to avail of this special offer.

Mourning Miscarriage

January 29th, 2008

Miscarriage is different for everybody.

Some experience it as the death of a baby, others as the end of a pregnancy. And this can change over time.

I find myself being overcome with grief months and months later.

While my intellect went into survival mode, my body was feeling deeply the sadness of this death.

And now, in its own time….my body discloses the truth.

Thankfully, the wisdom of the body is more powerful than any efforts to contain it!

And when you notice, listen and allow…. your body takes you gently to exactly where you REALLY want to go.

What is your body showing you now?

Conception, Fertility, Pregnancy, Birth- 5 Questions To Enhance Your Experience!

January 19th, 2008

(1) Fertility Reflection: Could Paul’s story mirror in any way your fertility? (2) Pregnancy Reflection: What aspects of this experience would you like to have in pregnancy?

(3) Birth/Conception Reflection: Paul’s amazing gift and inspiration were not apparent initially. How might that relate to the experience of conception or birth?

(4) Miscarriage reflection: Paul’s performance was brief but the impact was enormous and it lifted the crowd to a new level of awareness. Does this link in any way to your experience of miscarriage?

 (5) How might this clip influence your relationship with yourself (and your dreams), your partner, your breastfeeding and how you want to parent?

You can watch it again imagining that Paul is representing your sperm, egg, womb, fertility, pregnancy, baby or body etc. as he steps beyond his perceived limits and lets his light shine.

Thanks Paul!

Pregnancy & Fertility Myth: REAL Woman Have Babies

January 16th, 2008

There is an assumption that most women become pregnant and give birth some time during their child bearing years.

And it may seem, that the value or depth of women who have chosen (voluntarily or otherwise) a different path is somehow less.

This idea sometimes pushes women (for whom this road is not their true path) into joyless motherhood.

It also has the effect of making the experience of miscarriage or infertility even more painful and isolating.

In addition, it causes us to undervalue the beautiful, life-giving, powerful paths of women who express their femininity in different ways.

What are your beliefs around this? Because they are shaping your experience of your fertility.

Perhaps it is time to let some of them go?

I am offering the gift of a free consultation session (valued at 300 euro) to those who contact me through the blog in January.

In joy,

Deirdre
